Holy shit this game. I spent a lot of time playing the original God of War trilogy, specifically God of War 2’s Titan mode (gods damn you Titan mode. For what it’s worth, I did beat it, and it’s probably the one random gaming accomplishment I’ll keep bringing up), so I’m relatively familiar with Kratos and his journey of rage. This was a brilliant way to grow the story and Kratos as a character. A new son in a new location in a new mythology, which means plenty of things to murder indiscriminately (not the son tho, that’s messed up).
The brutality is over-the-top and awesome, with some EPIC battles, though I wasn’t quite a huge fan of the fighting mechanics of the new axe weapon (didn’t take long to get used to though). Graphics and animation, top notch. Story, awesome, though a few little nitpicky moments I wasn’t quite sure about, but few and far between. Not the biggest fan with the soft-rpg style of armor/weapon stats, but it wasn’t enough to ruin the experience. Overall awesome voice acting. Get yourself this game and play it.
